After rumors that Motorola would return recharged with a new device, it has become official that it will do so by renewing one of its classics, the famous RAZR V3 marketed in 2004.
The new device that will go on sale in January 2020 maintains that essence in design that we already knew. But, instead of keys on the inside, what it has is a flexible OLED screen, so that when the phone is folded, it shrinks to half its size.
The new Motorola Razr also has a 2.7-inch OLED external display, on which you can view notifications, the time or even make use of the “selfie mode”. This, in order to be able to preview the shot, and thus not having to open the cell phone constantly.
In addition, the brand is working with Google to optimize the system so that both panels work together to provide continuity between applications every time the device is folded or unfolded.
Features of the new Motorola Razr
The Motorola Razr, has a mid-range Snapdragon 710 processor, which is capable of running the considerable set of daily actions, however, it does not reach the most powerful level of the Snapdragon 855+. It also has a 6 GB RAM, 128 GB of internal storage and 2,510 mAh battery, which the company claims allows it to last all day.
As for the camera, it has a 16-megapixel main camera, which, as mentioned above, can be used when closed. Inside, the secondary camera is 5 megapixels.
From the above, we can deduce that this device will not have the first place in terms of specifications, as it will not be the most powerful or the one with the best camera, features to which other brands do aim firmly. The main thing is that, in terms of design, they managed to include all the necessary components for a device less than 7 mm thick.
However, the biggest novelty of the Motorola Razr is its flexible screen that folds vertically. This undoubtedly brings back the memory of the mythical “clamshell” design that makes it possible to fold the phone to reduce its size, while increasing its thickness.
And, although foldable devices have been in question since the failure of the Galaxy Fold, Motorola claims that its new handset has a lifespan that matches the current average of anything else on the market. But, as expected, its price will not be so affordable, $1,499, and it will be available in only one color.
