According to reports, Sony’s own internal studios have been testing PS5 Pro development kits for months, indicating a serious commitment to this upcoming release.

Promising specifications for the PS5 Pro

Leaked reports suggest that the PS5 Pro, codenamed Trinity, will feature a significantly more powerful GPU. Screenshots from a technical document reveal impressive specs, including 67 teraflops of 16-bit floating-point calculations, which would be a significant increase in rendering performance compared to the standard PS5. While direct comparison of teraflops between the consoles may be complicated due to changes in architecture, it is estimated that the PS5 Pro could offer a 45% performance improvement in GPU performance.

There is also speculation that Sony is raising the bar by moving from an AMD Radeon RX 6700, present in the standard PS5, to something similar to the Radeon RX 7800 XT. This hardware leap could translate into more impressive gaming performance, especially when it comes to ray tracing. It is also claimed that the PS5 Pro will offer up to three times more ray tracing performance, with a considerable increase in terms of visual effects.

Additional enhancements and possible innovative features

Reports also suggest other improvements to the PS5 Pro. It is expected to follow the recent redesign of the standard PS5, including support for a removable disk drive. In addition, it is rumored that the system memory will run at a speed of 576 GB/s, a 28% increase over its predecessor, promising smoother performance and a more immersive gaming experience.
