At an event in Paris, the Chinese handset manufacturer launched a series of devices with artificial intelligence. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, the highest versions of this new generation have four cameras, fast charging, plus the powerful Kirin 990 processor and 12GB RAM.
At the presentation, Richard Yu, CEO of the company unveiled a full-color photograph of the Milky Way taken by a Huawei P30, zoomed in and without a tripod. In addition, he alluded to one of his biggest competitors saying, “Galaxy can’t see the galaxy.”
Huawei P30: “Exceptional low-light performance”.
One of the Huawei P30 Pro‘s four cameras uses artificial intelligence in order to create better exposures. In addition, it offers “exceptional low-light performance” and also has an optical zoom that is five times higher in the eight-megapixel SuperZoom camera.
In the words of Peter Gauden, the company’s global head of marketing:
“We are going to completely redefine the rules of smartphone photography.”
Meanwhile, CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood commented on the brand’s latest development:
“Without question, the zoom lenses are an outstanding feature. Magnification is achieved by stacking five lenses in a ‘telescope’ configuration and our initial tests with the device were very promising. I am convinced that, if the device is marketed effectively, the camera could be a major point of differentiation for the P30s against rivals from Apple and Samsung.”
However, the analyst also claims that it is possible that a handset with such a powerful camera could be enough for consumers to make the decision to buy the Huawei P30.
In addition, Wood added:
“Like rival manufacturers, the company faces the tough challenge of convincing people that there is enough differentiation in the new devices to justify an upgrade, especially at what they cost.”
